Never have I ever been excited for a video game release ever since Deltarune Chapter 3-4! Tomodachi Life, for anybody who’s unfamiliar with the game, is a Nintendo game that’s much like the Sims, except they use proper english and more chaotic. That pretty much sums up the whole game. Sometimes really weird shit happens, such as the dream sequences. This one takes the cake, or in this case, the Virtual Boy!

So anyways, while the game can have its moments, it is still a nonetheless charming little game, with the Mii’s chipper robotic voices and quirky visuals elevating the gameplay! But however, the game DOES have its issues regarding gameplay. The biggest problem in my opinion (and pretty much every Tomodachi Life fan’s) is the lack of LGBTQ+ representation. A lot of video games nowadays have a lot of solid queer rep, such as Celeste, where the main character is a trans woman! And also in the Sims, you can have gay couples, nonbinary people, and even polyamorous relationships, making the game feel more relatable to players with similar identities!
And another big issue players have with the game itself is the lack of diversity regarding the Mii’s interactions, making the gameplay more boring and losing its whimsical nature. Basically, the Mii’s would just ask for requests such as wanting to befriend someone or needing a hat (sorry Poofesure), and it gets exhausting pretty quickly. If you want a game where interactions are optional and willing to spice up your life, Tomodachi Life will not leave a positive mark. You just have to continuously wait for something to happen, such as Mii’s falling in love and all that shit.
But luckily, much to many fan’s shock, Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream fixed a lot of issues they had with the original game! You can now add same-sex/nonbinary couples in the new game! This is a massive step up to the LGBTQ+ and Gaming community, as everyone gets to dream up the ships and make them come true here! I cannot wait to add Usagi x Rei to the game hehe!
Another benefit the new game has is that the customizations are more varied than the previous installment, now you get to make your Mii look more like your favorite anime/video game/etc. character! There are so many wacky features, such as adding hair dye to your Mii’s without relying on color spray (seriously, this mechanic sucks ass!), and you can change eye color to many colors and make your Mii’s pop out! You can even make your Mii look like a teddy bear!

You can pretty much do whatever the hell you want to do, and you can even make your Mii’s interact rather than just waiting them to mention they want to be friends with another Mii, making the experience a lot more vibrant! Speaking of vibrance, the visuals are a lot more cleaner and gorgeous, because unlike the ugly choppy Mii’s from the original, they look a lot more cuter and more friendlier now! And you can make custom clothes, I remember hearing in the trailer! Basically drawing some designs and adding them onto your Mii’s!
And when you make your Mii’s happy, you can make them gain warm fuzzies, which is a super cute mechanic, and add them to a wishing fountain, which can add cool features such as more animations for Mii’s, or cool gifts, or anything!
So yeah, basically my thoughts on this game is that it looks super wholesome and silly and I cannot wait to play the game! I’m going to do some batshit insane things to my Miis and make everyone fall in love with each other! Hahahaha! My fan fiction era has never changed!
