The Amazing Digital Circus is one of the greatest indie shows of all time, to the point where their creator, Gooseworx (the girlboss herself), is incredibly overwhelmed with their success!
It’s kind of like how Stephen Hillenberg (creator of SpongeBob SquarePants) is annoyed with SpongeBob merchandise everywhere he goes to the point where he created a movie as a sort of finale to the show (until Nickelodeon notices how incredibly popular the brand is, to the point where they keep milking up SpongeBob’s titties).
So I decided to make a list of Digital Circus characters based on how much I want to hang out with/be sociable with! This will just be my dumbass opinion, aight? Let’s get this started!
Pomni

It would make sense for me to start off with the anxiety-riddled main character herself, Pomni! Pomni is probably the sweetest of the TADC cast, where she adjusted to the circus rather quickly in 3 episodes and doesn’t have the same emotional baggage as Ragatha. She’d the emotional support Jester, and honestly she seems like a great person to get along with. I like the scene where she talks to Gangle if Spudsy’s is not making her happy. And she even offers to close the restaurant for her!
(JesterRibbon my beloved don’t @ me)
Pomni is a complete saint and she cares for everyone in the circus, thanks to Daddy Kinger himself! She may be flawed, as shown when she unintentionally abandoned Ragatha 2 times due to being understandably obsessed with the exit, but she is shown to feel extreme remorse as in the scene where she looks down in guilt as Ragatha looks away from her in the first episode.
Because of these qualities, I give Pomni a 9.5/10 for friend potential!
Jax

Jax is the type of guy who would tell Olaf that he will become a puddle during his “Summer Song”.
Jax is rarely a good person to be near with, and as from I’ve seen, there’s a lot of fangirls writing down fanfics where they downplay Jax’s narcissistic personality traits and turn him into an angsty redeemable bad boy. But in the series, he gets better, but not in the way you’d expect. He becomes more emotionally depleted, starting off with Episode 4 aka “Fast Food Masquerade”, and figuratively stops masking himself out of sheer boredom from working in a real-time job. He even uses acts of kindness towards Pomni, such as checking up on her.
Speaking of, he does this to other characters by the first episode, where he checks up on their room, including Kaufmo’s (who unfortunately abstracted).
By episode 5, he even befriends Pomni and even makes her laugh with his crazy antics at one point. (FunnyBunny?) By episode 6, Jax has a massive crash out moment, where he hates being vulnerable and literally pushes Pomni away. He decides to use his unhealthy coping mechanisms again and tells Pomni to leave him alone and that he would move on and forget about her after she abstracts. This understandably pisses off Pomni, and she gets into a raging fist fight with Jax, who doesn’t reciprocate the fighting. This shows that Jax does secretly care about Pomni, but he prefers to hide away in order to avoid abstraction.
Jax has a lot of issues, and because of these, I’ll give him a 4/10.
Ragatha
I love Ragatha, and she really cares about everyone, but this is mostly a coping mechanism on her part, which makes it hard to emphasize with her as she is seen as the bright optimist who rarely shows her true feelings.
In episode 5, Ragatha tells everyone about her abusive mother and how she hates all her manipulations and guilt-tripping. She is terrified of her mother and acts like a people pleaser to make them happy. This is obviously unhealthy, and she makes a terrible therapist because of these issues. In episode 8, Ragatha’s fear of her mother is shown again, with a shadowy, ominous figure that looks like a scary version of her darting knives at her, which could represent the trauma she inflicts on Ragatha.
Poor Dolly! For friend potential, I’ll give her a 8/10!
I’ll finish this list after school.
